Kelly Murphy's "The Miniature World of Marvin and James" and "Romping Monsters, Stomping Monsters" in the 2014 Original Art show at the Society of Illustrators

Kelly Murphy's books The Miniature World of Marvin and James (Christy Ottaviano Books) and Romping Monsters, Stomping Monsters (Candlewick Press) were selected by the Society of Illustrators's jury for its 2014 Original Art competition, celebrating the fine art of children's book illustration.

Kelly Murphy's painting "Trail of Tears" can be seen in the acclaimed music documentary film Muscle Shoals, directed by Greg 'Freddy' Camalier and produced by Magnolia Pictures, featuring Rick Hall, The Swampers, Aretha Franklin, Percy Sledge, Bono, Keith Richards and many more.



The painting appears during a sequence (11:30) in which Tom Hendrix, a descendant of the Yuchi tribe, tells the story of his American Indian great-great-grandmother's deportation from what is now known as Muscle Shoals, in 1839.
